Our Academic Philosophy
Today’s world is marked by unprecedented complexity and change. Technology is all-pervasive, and advancing at a pace that makes it difficult for even practitioners to keep up with it. To succeed in such a world, students have to be equipped with a different set of skills, mindset and approach to learning than what has been traditionally taught in schools. At IPS, our STEM-focused inquiry-based curriculum has been designed to ensure our students are well-prepared for today’s challenges. Our curriculum complies with CBSE requirements and is structured to provide additional and in-depth learning of key STEM concepts, through curricular integration, hands-on lab activities and PBL, right from Kindergarten to 8th Standard.
21st Century Work-skills
STEM education is not just about teaching the fundamentals of the four component areas, but rather an initiative to develop the mathematical, scientific and critical thinking mindset required for students to be successful 21st Century professionals. Our curriculum’s objective is to create a ‘STEM’ mindset among our students and to develop strong STEM Literacy and “21st Century” work-skills from a young age. To this end, our lesson plans have been designed to foster intellectual curiosity and critical thinking in students. We extensively use curricular integration across subjects, both to improve literacy and to ensure STEM is not taught in isolation, but within the framework of humanities and values. We use project-based learning, hand-on activities, and a vibrant year-round sports and cultural calendar to ensure IPSchoolers look forward to coming to school each day!
What is Stem?
S.T.E.M. is an acronym for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.
The hallmarks of today’s society are pervasive use of technology and global interconnectedness. A result of this technology boom is that while the market for many skills taught in universities today have plateaued or even shrunk over the years, STEM and related skills continue to experience intense demand.
Demand for STEM Skills
This differential demand will be even more pronounced when today’s children are ready to enter the workforce. Almost every job going forward will require the participant to be technology-adept at the least and, in many cases, knowledgeable about science and maths. It is therefore critical that young children should be provided a strong foundation in STEM and coding in their formative years, along with the ability to work in a global environment, in order to ensure their later career success.
